David Woodroffe is the Principal Legal Officer at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) with over 22 years’ experience in criminal law and management of the NT’s largest legal practice. David is descended from the Jingili Modburra clan group.

He is the Co-Chair of the NT Aboriginal Justice Agreement Reference Committee and has lead NAAJA’s contribution to law reform including mandatory sentencing, Aboriginal Customary Law, and youth justice reform. In 2013, he was awarded Indigenous Legal Practitioner of the Year and in 2017 the Australian Human Rights Award Lawyer of the Year.

In 2020, David was awarded the Indigenous Alumni Award and the overall Distinguished Alumni Award at the Inaugural CDU Alumni Awards. He is also the President of Winkiku Rrumbangi NT Indigenous Lawyers Aboriginal Corporation.
